You will be required to complete a project for 1 country from Europe, Africa, and Asia (you must complete 2 projects).  These may be turned in at any time while we are studying that continent.  You may not turn them in after we have completed our studies of the continent.  Do not turn them in before we get to the continent from which your selected country is a part of.

  • Write a 3-4 page paper on the country of your choice.

  • Prepare a PowerPoint presentation on a country of your choice.

  • Make a model of something that pertains to a country of your choice.

  • Create a tourist poster.  Put on your poster what it is that will draw people to your country.

  • Create a colorful brochure. Put in your brochure what it is that will draw people to your country.

  • Create a Jeopardy game.

  • Another idea?  Bring it to the instructor’s attention.

Below you will find the requirements and what you will be graded on for each project.

 

PowerPoint

  • Font minimum 26 pt and maximum 30 except for the title page.

  • Minimum 15 slides long

  • Title slide

  • Graphics on at least 8 slides

    • Background does not detract from text or other graphics.

      • Choice of background is consistent from card to card and is appropriate for the topic.

    • Font formats (color, bold, italic) have been carefully planned to enhance readability and content.

    • All content throughout the presentation is accurate.  There are no factual errors.

    • Information is organized in a clear, logical way.

    • Project includes all material needed to gain a comfortable understanding of the topic. It is an effective study guide

  • All sources cited (this includes text and pictures)

Model

  • The subject of your model must be approved by the instructor.

  • A paragraph of information about your model must be typed and turned in with model.

    • Great care taken in construction process so that the structure is neat, attractive and follows plans accurately.

    • Appropriate materials were selected and creatively modified in ways that made them even better.

    • All facts are accurate.

    • Students can accurately answer all questions about project.

 

 

3-4 page paper

  • Must be typed

  • 12 pt font, Times New Roman style

  • Double spaced

  • Title page (not included in the page requirement)

    • All topics addressed with at least 2 sentences about each.

    • Information clearly relates to the main topic.

      • Include several supporting details and/or examples

      • All paragraphs include introductory sentence explanations or details, and concluding sentence.

    • No grammatical, spelling or punctuation errors.

    • Information is very organized with well-constructed paragraphs.

  • All sources cited (not included in the page requirement)

Poster

  • Standard size poster board.

  • Minimum 7 accurate facts.

  • Must be able to be read from 7 feet away.

    • The poster includes all required elements as well as additional information

    • All graphics are related to the topic and make it easier to understand.

    • The poster is exceptionally attractive in terms of design, layout, and neatness.

    • All items of importance on the poster are clearly labeled with labels that can be read from at least 3 ft. away.

    • At least 7 accurate facts are displayed on the poster.

Brochure

  • Should be created on a computer.

    • Each section in the brochure has a clear beginning, middle and end.

    • No spelling errors remain after one person other than the typist reads and corrects the brochure.

    • All facts in the brochure are accurate.

    • The brochure has exceptionally attractive formatting and well-organized information.

    • Graphics go well with the text and there is a good mix or text and graphics.
